Passports

If your Australian passport is lost or stolen, here’s what you need to do:

Within Australia, call the Australian Passport Information Service at 131 232. Alternatively, tou must report the loss or theft to the Australian High Commission in Port of Spain during local business hours. Now, if you need to apply for a new passport or renew your existing one, follow these steps:

Visit the Australian Passports Office website and go to the ‘Apply or renew’ section. If you’re eligible to apply via mail, keep reading. Otherwise, contact the Australian High Commission in Port of Spain to schedule a passport interview.

Eligibility for mail applications:

For adults:

You must be 18 or older.
Your previous passport:Was issued when you were 16 or older.
Was issued on or after January 1, 2006.
Had at least two years’ validity when issued.
Shows your current name, date of birth, place of birth, and gender.
Hasn’t been reported lost, stolen, or cancelled.
If you meet all these criteria, you can complete your passport renewal application (PC7) online.

For children:

The child must be aged up to and including 15 years old.
They must have held a previous full-validity passport.
If your child meets these criteria, you can complete a passport renewal application (PC8) online.

For first-time child applications under 16, or for applicants aged 16 or 17, you’ll need to lodge the application in person by appointment.

Fees (as of April 1, 2024):

  • Passport Adult (16 and older): $227 USD / $1,494 TTD
  • Replacement Passport 32 pages: $142 USD / $937 TTD
  • Passport Minor (under 16 years): $115 USD / $756 TTD
  • Passport Senior (75 and older, optional): $115 USD / $756 TTD
  • Overseas surcharge (adult 18 and over): $102 USD / $669 TTD
  • Overseas surcharge (minor): $50 USD / $328 TTD
  • Emergency passport: $142 USD / $937 TTD
  • Document of Identity: $60 USD / $393 TTD
  • Courier fees: $30 USD / $194 TTD

 

Passport for Adult (Postal)

Here’s a step-by-step guide for renewing your Australian passport (PC7) by mail:

Complete the Application Online:

– Fill out the renewal application form (PC7) online. Remember, you must submit it within six months of completion.

Print and Sign:

– Print the form on plain white paper. Adjust your printer settings to “fit to page” to ensure nothing gets cut off.
– Sign the form with a black pen within the designated signature box. Avoid any alterations or whiteout on the signature or date.

Photos:

– Get two recent identical color photos, less than six months old. Write your full name on the back of one photo. Refer to the photo guidelines for details.
Do NOT attach the photos to the form. Place them in an envelope instead.

Payment:

– Complete the payment authorization form in USD. Include it with your application form.
– Likewise, contact their office for updated fees before mailing your application.

Processing Time:

– Expect a minimum of six weeks plus transit time to receive your new passport once payment has been taken.
– Incomplete applications will cause delays, so double-check everything before mailing.
